Inflation in Emerging Countries (Monthly Report)

19 June 2018 - High oil prices have boosted inflation in India in May, forcing regulators to raise interest rates for the first time in four and a half years. In Turkey meanwhile, the crisis did not subside, with inflation surpassing market expectations, despite the efforts of Turkey’s Central Bank. In Pakistan, the rupee’s strong devaluation has boosted inflation through higher prices for imports. Our monthly report offers a comparison of inflation rates in low-cost countries, with historical data available back to June 2007. Impact of currency changes vs the US dollar, the euro and the Sterling is also calculated to assess real terms of trade for exporters.
