U.S. Apparel Imports: Latest and Long-Term Trends (Monthly Report)

9 July 2018 - US apparel imports have continued slowly rising in volume terms in May, as unit prices were no more dropping in exporting countries confronted with rapidly rising material costs. Whatever the jump of cotton yarn prices, US demand for more expensive cotton apparel has rebounded to the detriment of cheaper man-made fiber apparel imports. Our monthly review covers US apparel import data, with historical trends being analyzed over the 2000-2018 period including cotton vs man-made fiber apparel, and China vs Rest of World (RoW) and vs Vietnam.
