India Yarn Prices: Domestic and Export Markets (Weekly Report)

9 January 2019 - Spun yarn prices have clearly fallen in the last weeks in India over a new drop of cotton and polyester fiber prices. Demand remains relatively weak after the rupee has further risen, in addition. A lower cotton production than expected could however boost cotton fiber prices, already maintained above official minimum levels by state-buying. Our review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. Major yarn production centres are covered with Tirupur (Tamil Nadu), Bhiwandi (Maharashtra) and Ludhiana (Punjab). Yarn prices are compared with fiber prices offering latest trends of spinners' margins. Market fundamentals are available on a monthly basis, including production and exports.
